What is outplacement and what can it do for me?
Outplacement is a service for people who are soon-to-leave or have recently left their place of employment. Usually, an employer hires an outplacement service to help a displaced employee transition successfully to a new job.
PowerTransitions outplacement services provide training in the skills required to land new (and often better) employment. These skills include successful job-search strategies, self-assessment, resume writing, correspondence, networking, Web research, interviewing, and negotiation techniques.
Is PowerTransitions going to find me a new job?
No, we are not in the business of finding people jobs. However, we will coach you to make sure you have the necessary attitude and skills to go out and find yourself a new position. We also have many contacts among recruiters, and in hiring companies, and we will share those contacts with you to help speed up your job search.
How do I get started with my PowerTransitions outplacement service?
If your employer has hired PowerTransitions to provide your outplacement services, just give us a call or send us an email.
A face-to-face meeting is always the best way to begin: As soon as you contact us we will arrange a meeting with one of our campaign managers.
What will I learn at a workshop?
PowerTransitions two and three day workshops provide job search training in a small group environment. Topics covered usually include: self-assessment, self-marketing, resume development, organization skills, networking, interviewing, and correspondence.
What if I just want help writing my resume?
A resume is just one piece of a successful job search campaign. PowerTransitions has experienced resume writing gurus who can help you polish your resume into an outstanding marketing tool.
May I just drop by any PowerTransitions office?
Only our downtown San Francisco office is available for drop-ins. We invite and encourage candidates to drop by our office on Mondays and Fridays from 9 am to 5 pm.
How long can I use my outplacement service?
Unique among outplacement firms, Power Transitions does not place time limits on our individual programs. We are committed to working with you until you successfully obtain a new position, start a business, or decide to leave the job market.
